We at SACA serve to preserve, create and promote the Sicilian culture in Australia.

Our vision is to safeguard and celebrate the rich tapestry of Sicilian culture, preserving its timeless stories, language, and art forms for future generations. We strive to create platforms that honour and nurture Sicilian-inspired artistic expression, fostering the evolution of art rooted in the Sicilian diaspora and promoting contemporary expressions. Through our commitment to preserving heritage and fostering creativity, we aim to inspire a global appreciation for the diversity of Sicilian culture and art by:

  • Creating theatrical and musical presentations for the general public

  • Generating educational programs for schools and the community

  • Curating art exhibitions featuring Sicilian inspired content

  • Maintaining the active use of the Sicilian languages

  • Establishing relationships with Sicilian arts organisations for the purposes of artistic exchange

  • Supporting the publication of ancestral stories.

Our next Sicilian Salottu Session #4 – Ciuri Ciuri

Move to the hypnotic melodies of the marranzanu, the Sicilian jaw harp that evokes the traditional sound of Sicily, and the tamburu performed by percussionist Giovanni Johnny di Stefano, and accompanied by accordionist Jeanette Taranto. Sing Ciuri Ciuri ‘con brio’ led by our Salottu choral master. Bring along an instrument for an open jam session and/or vinyl, CD’s, found in your folks’ collection of Sicilian music.
