Rosanna Morales’ book, The Last Sicilian – Poetry of a Vulnerable Language, was brought to life in a captivating presentation at the Museo Italiano in Carlton, drawing a packed audience eager to immerse themselves in her poetry.

Following the performance, Rosanna engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with Lella Cariddi OAM. Delving into her research on the Ragusano dialect and the inspiration behind her poetry, Rosanna offered insights that deepened the audience’s appreciation for her work.

The evening culminated in the screening of Rrausa Mmja, a poignant short film dedicated to Rosanna's father. This touching tribute provided a fitting conclusion to an evening filled with heartfelt storytelling.

About the Author

Rosanna Morales is a first generation Australian. The daughter of Sicilian migrants, she is a proud member of the Sicilian diaspora who took with them their culture and language to new worlds. An experienced publisher, author, and performer, her contributions to the cultural landscape extend to the co-production and performance in a multitude of Italo-Australian theatre productions. Residing in Naarm (Melbourne), Rosanna continues to celebrate her heritage with pride.
